Bingle intimates scrutinised

"She doesn't want to talk about her personal life," she said.

"She's got nothing to hide. She did know John from years and years ago but she's not friends with him now."

Always surrounded by an entourage of glamorous women, Bingle has recently attempted to keep a "low profile" in the area, according to police and security sources.

"She tends to make a point of walking in and out of a club with a group of girls," one security officer said. "She'll never walk in with guys, or her fianc aac, for that matter. She's never seen with him."

Bingle's links to colourful characters came to light last week after the theft of her $250,000 car.

The prized Aston Martin was stolen on December 29 from her fortified unit on Campbell Pde, Bondi, which she shares with her cricketer partner, Michael Clarke.

The Sunday Telegraph has learnt police intelligence "holdings" were used to investigate links between the theft and controversial characters within Ms Bingle's social network. The individuals have now been ruled out of the probe.

"We looked at our holdings and the intelligence there, but found no association between the current investigation and those people," a senior police source said.

The damaged car was later recovered in Coogee where police believe the thieves dumped the vehicle after it ran out of petrol.

"There's no conspiracy - it was just an opportunistic break and enter," the officer said.sGAuthorities are now hunting for the hoodlums responsible, who are still holding onto a set of the car's highly-prized keys.

While police have been quick to debunk some of the wilder theories swirling about car theft, the incident has unleashed a wave of interest into Bingle's private party lifestyle.

Senior police concede some information sourced on Bingle may be based on "rumour" rather than fact.

Forensic tests and DNA lifted from the Aston Martin's doors and steering wheel are currently being analysed.

Other items, including golf clubs and a push bike, were also swiped during the raid, but they are believed to belong to neighbours of the couple living in the same building. nte
