Turned On: Auto news for the week of July 13 - July 17

Ford is looking to take over as America’s #1 selling automobile brand in the near future. As if no one saw this coming, what with GM bumbling around the way it is. Example: axing four brands while top-level executives aren’t able to stay on the same page in regards to making PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS about future products. Oh, and then there’s the former "Nosedive it into the ground!" CEO, who’s getting himself one fine little golden parachute. Way to go, Grinning Rick, way to go.    As for that whole “GM execs aren’t on the same page” deal, that all has to do with Bob Lutz yapping his big food hole about the possibility of the G8 surviving as a Caprice (something that I have always thought would have been cool, but a stretched Epsilon II is really all Chevy needs). Here’s the deal, Bob. Just because you know how to debut cool concepts and work the computer mcthingy in the office does not mean you can all of a sudden take everyone for a spin without making sure Fritzy says ok.
