Sepang set for biggest show

Already, 50 shipping containers arrived yesterday in preparation for the weekend. The size of the grid makes this the biggest single international race series hosted by the Sepang Circuit. According to SIC Chief Operations Officer Kumarasamy Chellappan, plans for the weekend have been made for weeks and the organisers remain confident of a successful race under any weather condition. "The delivery team have been doing this for years and with some special arrangements it only takes a couple of hours for the containers holding the cars, parts and tools for the Super GT racing teams, to get from the point of arrival in Port Klang to the track," said Kumarasamy. "On our part, we just ensure everything is in place for the event to run smoothly, whatever the weather condition." In total, 33 teams, including local-based ThunderAsia Racing which will be making its debut in the GT300 class, will be contesting the 54-lap race on Sunday. There will also be supporting races from Formula V6 Asia, GT3 Asia and Aston Martin Cup Asia. In between races, fans will also be treated with off track entertainment with appearances of the GT-A official race queens Sana and Nana, along with race queens representing teams. There will also be drift demos and GT look-a-like cars on display. Parents can bring their children for the Kids Pit Walk programme on Saturday after the second qualifying session. This free Pit Walkabout offer is limited to the first 1,000 children along with their parents. Tickets for the Main Grandstand is RM100 each.
