470-63corvette-lm24-mtcAfter several Porsches already dropped out in the previous hours the IMSA Performance Matmut car was the latest to hit trouble. As a result the SNORAS Spyker Squadron moved up into sixth place, the best non-Ferrari squad in today’s race.

The #1 Audi hit trouble again. Shortly after a previous stop McNish came in and a steering wheel was replaced, in order to solve a problem. But just two laps later the Scot was back in again and the car was rolled back into the pit box where Capello jumped in the car and the team started to work on the car.

At 11:35 the JMW Ferrari was smoking on the Mulsanne straight with smoke coming from the left rear of the car, suspension or tyre problems for the team. No happy faces in the box.

After another long check in the pit Capello returns to the track in the #1 Audi, but on his way out he already spins at the Dunlop bridge.

Meanwhile the two Corvette GT1s are fighting it out, all around the track the cars are right behind each other and at the finish line the gap is just a quarter of a second.

The battle between the Corvettes went on into the 22nd hour. But after a pit stop the gap increased and with the race more or less settled teams were just waiting for the finish flag in a few hours.

Unfortunately for Corvette #64 the end of the race came too early. Just before the pit entrance the C6.R came to a halt on the side of the track and was quickly pushed back to a safe place. Corvette Racing mechanics ran to the scene, in their overalls in the sun, but couldn’t get the car running again.

Two minutes later the NAVI Team Goh Porsche RS Spyder spun at the Playstation Chicane. Fortunately it missed everything and was able to continue. The IMSA Performance Matmut Porsche came to a halt out on the track at the second chicane. Pilet managed to restart the car and get going again.

Just before the end of the 22n hour the Drayson Racing Aston Martin Vantage ran slowly at the Mulsanne Straight before coming to halt.
