Qualifying for Formula One's Brazilian Grand Prix in front of 80,000 fans was marked by two extended red flags due to rainy conditions, but in the end hometown hero Rubens Barrichello took his first Pole position of the 2009 season in thrilling style. The Pole was Barrichello's 14th all-time Formula One P1 start in 283 starts, and his first in 88 races. His last Pole position came at the Brazilian Grand Prix in 2004 where he finished third. Barrichello's last win came just three races ago at the Italian Grand Prix.

For Brawn Grand Prix, Barrichello's Pole is the fifth of the 2009 F1 season. Jenson Button has the teams other Pole positions, and won all four of those Grand Prix.

'I love this track!, said Barrichello. "It was a fantastic session and I am really pleased to be on pole today. Just very happy. No words to describe it."

Looking ahead to tomorrow, the Brawn driver said, "It is much better to start in the front even on low fuel. When the race will be finished I will see where Jenson Button (Brawn Gp Formula one team ) and Sebastien Vettel (Red Bull Racing) who start 14th and 16th will be. In the second part of the season, I have often been in front of Jenson. Since Silverstone we have had the same brakes than Jenson. But I don’t like them too much.
