With the announcement at the Autódromo Internacional Algarve of Team Oreca Matmut AIM’s plans to run at Petit Le Mans and the decision to skip the 1000 kilometers of the Nürburgring round four of the Le Mans Series lost another two top cars. But there is good news this week from Aston Martin Racing.
Just four points behind Pescarolo Sport in the Team Classification and with a three points lead in the Manufacturer Classification Aston Martin Racing has confirmed it will field three cars at the Nürburgring. With just one Pescarolo in Germany and no Oreca’s Aston Martin Racing’s main target should be to get as many points for the championships and to keep Pescarolo away from scoring many points. For the fans it will be good to see the third Aston on the track in the Le Mans Series.
Like at the Le Mans 24 Hours the third car will be entered under the AMR Eastern Europe banner, with Miguel Ramos moving into the #008 from the #009. He will be joined by Stuart Hall. Darren Turner and Harold Primat will be racing in the #009 car, with Jan Charouz, Tomas Enge and Stefan Mücke staying put in the #007.
Other interesting changes for the Nürburgring include the return of Michael Vergers in a Radical SR9. The Dutchman will join Pierre Bruneau and Francesco Sini in the #26 Bruichladdich-Brunea entry. Wolfgang Kaufmann and Giovanni Lavaggi are expected to race the Lavaggi LS1 again, while the Pegasus Racing and second FBR entries are back on the list.
After opting to miss out the Algarve round in order to repair their Lola and prepare the car in an optimal way for the rest of the season the KSM team has meanwhile been removed again from the entrylist.
