Britain's Princess Beatrice received several unique birthday presents when she turned 21 on Saturday (08.08.09).
The royal was thrilled when one close friend - believed to be her boyfriend Dave Clark - commissioned a top Paris perfumer to design a bespoke fragrance for the landmark occasion.
A source said: "The icing on the cake for Beatrice is that one of Paris's top 'noses' has been asked to create a perfume for her.
"It'll just be called Beatrice and will be totally unique to her. It's an incredible gift and a rather romantic one. It's the sort of thing that Dave would do. He's really protective of her and they're just totally besotted.
"The perfumer will want to know Beatrice's favourite books, favourite foods, pictures, smells, memories and so on. It's a real art."
Creating a personalised scent is a costly gift. Guerlain offer the service with prices starting at 30,000 for 60oz, while Cartier charges 45,000 for 20oz.
Beatrice - who spent her special day partying with friends and family in Spain - also received a day of racing in exclusive Ferrari and Aston Martin cars, a massage and the chance to drive a Russian army tank.
A source told Britain's Daily Mail newspaper: "Her male friends have got together and organised a Full Monty Tank Driving experience. She'll be kitted out in camouflage gear and a helmet and get to drive a Russian tank, a Lance missile carrier and an armoured personnel carrier.
"There's also target shooting. It's a team thing, so friends will compete against each other."
Her father Prince Andrew splashed out on several golf lessons with English professional Nick Faldo, while the princess' mother, Sarah Ferguson - the Duchess of York - gave her daughter flying lessons.
A source said: "Sarah is a qualified pilot herself and it's something she has wanted to share with Beatrice for a while."
In stark contrast to Beatrice's star-studded 18th birthday - a 500,000 masked ball held at Windsor Castle and attended by celebrities including Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher and Elle Macpherson - the princess enjoyed a low-key party in Sotogrande, the Spanish resort where she has been staying for the past week.
Beatrice invited her boyfriend, a handful of friends, her parents and her 19-year-old sister Eugenie to the bash, which was given the codename 818 - a tribute to the princess being born at 8.18pm on August 8, 1988.
A source said: "Beatrice was aware of how a big party would look in the current economic climate. She was perfectly happy to celebrate her big day with friends and family in Spain."
