Our expert road test team knows a thing or two about putting the latest new cars through their paces – but none of them would claim to be a style expert. Picking the best-designed model is notoriously difficult, which is why we asked Auto Express’s readers to choose their favourite of the last 12 months. You responded in your thousands, casting your votes on the www.autoexpress.co.uk website – and one car dominated the entire poll, picking up more than a third of all the votes: the Aston Martin One-77. It saw off some tough competition in the process, as our shortlist included everything from the Alfa Romeo MiTo to the Ferrari California. The flagship model in the British brand’s prestigious line-up is totally unique, and is equipped with a powerful 7.3-litre V12 engine producing up to 700bhp. That will mean incredible straight-line performance – the new car should be capable of a top speed of around 200mph. Design director Marek Reichman oversaw the shaping of the hand-crafted aluminium bodywork to ensure the One-77 delivers on its promise of being the ultimate expression of Aston Martin styling principles. Only 77 cars will be produced, with each being individually numbered, so the model will take exclusivity to a whole new level. And that’s exactly what buyers of this £1.2million supercar will want.
