Aston Martin Announces Luxury Low-CO2 Commuter Car

Hand-crafted European luxury sportscar maker Aston Martin has recently unveiled their new low emissions concept car, the Cygnet.  According to the company, the Cygnet will offer Aston Martin’s trademark design in a commuter car based on the Toyota iQ with a Euro NCAP 5-star safety package.

This petite commuter car, which Aston Martin proclaims is a “distinctive, intelligent and exclusive solution for urban travel in style and luxury” certainly looks like fun to drive. But does it have any eco-features, besides its size? How exactly will it achieve its projected low emissions? And how low will said emissions be? The company release chooses to leave all that to the imagination,  focusing instead on how honored it is to be working with Toyota, which it says shares Aston Martin’s philosophy of engineering excellence and innovation.

“Now is the right time for Aston Martin to take this first bold step to embark on this special project,” said Aston Martin Chief Executive, Dr Ulrich Bez, in a statement, “[which was] made possible with the support of an organisation of Toyota’s stature and capability and the intelligent design and perfect city car package of the iQ.”
