By Christopher Tan The latest limited-edition Lamborghini, which costs $1.6 million, has seen 10 buyers since a preview here last January. Of the 10, seven are repeat Lamborghini customers, including Lamborghini Singapore managing director Melvin Goh.
Only 350 of the 670bhp Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce will be made.
There are about 170 Lamborghini owners in Singapore now. The first SuperVeloce is due to arrive next month.
ASTON'S AWARD-WINNING DESIGN
Aston Martin's One-77 won the Concorso d'Eleganza Design Award for concept cars at the world-renowned Concorso d'Eleganza event in Italy last weekend. The handmade full-working model could point the way for Aston Martins to come.
AUDI Q3 TO BE MADE IN SPAIN
Audi, which is set to expand its line-up to 40 models by 2015 (from 32 today), has announced that its Q3 crossover will be built at the Seat plant in Martorell, Spain.
Manufacture will begin in 2011, with an annual production capacity of up to 80,000 units. The total investment for the model will be around ¥300 million (S$590 million). The Audi Cross Coupe quattro concept may be the basis for the Q3.
SCRAP REBATES MUSHROOM
Several countries have introduced scrap rebates - familiar to motorists in Singapore - to stimulate the car market. Britain is the latest, following similar moves in Germany, Austria, France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Malaysia and China. The scrap rebates are cash incentives for owners of old cars (typically 10 years or older) to trade in their rides for new cars. In Germany, the scheme raised new car sales by 40 per cent in March.
BMW 760Li MEETS ROLLS-ROYCE GHOST
BMW's newly announced 760Li (above) has several similarities with the group's 7-series-based Rolls-Royce Ghost. Both cars have an eight-speed automatic gearbox and a turbocharged V12 (but the 760Li's a 6-litre versus the RR's 6.6-litre). The BMW flagship will have 544bhp and 750Nm of torque, or 100bhp and 150Nm more than its predecessor. It hits 100kmh in 4.6 seconds.
