Introduction, Aston Martin, Audi

Aston Martin Rapide

Aston Martin We've been tantalised by a four-door Aston Martin for what feels like a lifetime, but Frankfurt finally marks the arrival of the Rapide. This is Aston's attempt at a four-door cruiser to take on the Panamera andthe Maserati Quattroporte. It's based on the long-wheelbase DB9 and although it has the swooping roofline, it is 63mm higher than a DB9. It'll use a 480bhp 6.0-litre V12 and six-speed ZF auto. Expect a 0-60mph time of around 4.5sec and top speed of more than 180mph. It's pricey though - £110,000 - and you'll have to wait a while: it's due in 2010. Audi Audi has gone to the trouble of building a microsite to build up the anticipation for its new concept car - of which we know very little. What we do know is Audi is keen to tell us that electric cars are the future and that it'll reveal all next week because there's a countdown clock to tell us that. We're happy to speculate - it'll be an electrically-powered R8 supercar. Oh, there'll be a new S5 Sportback on the Audi stand too.
